TASTER CLASS!
After last month's response to our taster class, we can confirm another is scheduled for those of you who are still not sure what FITT is all about!

On Tuesday 25th May we will have 2 taster classes at 6pm and 7pm. The cost is €20 per person - if you decide to take up the 8 week session block, this will be deducted from your membership fee.

Classes are held at the Furze Road in the Phoenix Park; this is the right hand road before the roundabout leading to the Papal Cross if you are coming from Castleknock. Or it is the left hand road after the roundabout leading to the Papal Cross if you are coming from town.There is a 'No Through Road' sign at the start of this road. There is loads of parking and benches. You will find us there.

FACT:
A 200ml glass of champagne/prosecco/cava is only 140cals....thats only about 100 burpees to burn it off!! FACT

Sexy FITT Butt Exercise

1. Lie on your back on the floor with your knees bent and feet flat on the floor or on a balance disc.
2. Raise one foot into the air and press your other foot into the floor or disc until your hips come up off the floor.
3. Press until your hips are at full extension.
4. Return to the starting position and repeat for the prescribed repetitions. Repeat with the other leg.

Sexy FITT Butt Exercise

Lateral Kick with bar
1. Stand with your feet shoulder width apart. Hold onto a stationary object with one hand.
2. Raise the opposite foot off the ground and kick laterally out to the side.
3. Keep the leg and foot elevated and repeat according to the prescribed repetitions.
4. Repeat with the other leg

NEW MEETING POINT
From Monday 10th May, classes will be located at the FURZE ROAD.
This is the right hand road before the roundabout leading to the Papal Cross if you are coming from Castleknock.
Or it is the left hand road after the roundabout leading to the Papal Cross if you are coming from town.
There is a 'No Through Road' sign at the start of this road. There is loads of parking and benches. You will find us there.

Sexy FITT Butt Exercise
Step Up
1. Stand to the right of the box. Place left foot on top of box.
2. Raise body using the left foot only until leg is extended
3. Lower to start position keeping the foot on top of box. Repeat with other leg according to exercise prescription.

Butt Makeover Workout Tip:
A sturdy bench or chair works just as well as a step. Try not to help with the foot that is touching the floor.

MIDGE Alert!
Not sure about any of you, but I have midge bites all over! Here are a few pointers that you might want to take into consideration to avoid bites :(
1. avoid wearing perfumes to class
2. wear long sleeves and long trousers
3. dab citronella and/or lavender oil on your clothing - avoid skin contact
4. wear a hat
5. spray your clothing with a good commercial repellant avoiding your eyes and any open wounds
6. eat vegemite before a class!
7. be aware the midges are more active at dusk - so those of you in the later sessions should come prepared!

This weather has been so inspiring and motivating!! All classes are filling up fast and we now have an 8pm session starting from Monday 3rd 2010. For all groups, our meeting place is the same area, but please arrive a little earlier than usual as we will be meeting then jogging to another place to add a bit of variety to the classes. FITT Fact of the week
While post-workout meals should have quick high glycemic index carbs and quickly digested proteins, all of your other meals throughout the day should be comprised of low glycemic index, slowly digested carbs and slow release proteins.
Another great thing about post-workout meals is that you can satisfy even the worst sweet tooth, since this is the one time of the day where you can get away with eating extra sugars without adding to your gut. Instead, it all goes straight to the muscles! Enjoy!FACT.

Sexy FITT Abs Exercise

1. Start by placing yourself on your hands and knees.
2. Slowly raise your opposite arm and opposite leg and extend them out away from the body.
3. Return to the starting position and repeat with the other side.
4. Always keep this movement slow and controlled.
Core exercises workout tips:This exercise is very important for core stability, low back strength, and when performed with arm coming out at an angle instead of forward it also corrects forward shoulder posture and improves range of motion with all ab exercises

FITT Fact for the week
FACT: Geoff Smart, a psychologist at Claremont Graduate University, East of Los Angeles, tracked venture capitalists' success over time and found that those who religiously kept checklists had a median return of a whopping 80% on studied investments, compared to a rate of 35% or less for those who were not checklist keepers. FACT.

Sexy FITT Abs Exercise
Mountain Climbers
1. Start by getting on your hands and feet in a prone position.
2. Keeping your body parallel to ground drive your knees up towards your chest alternating back and forth.
3. Repeat this movement for the required number of seconds.

Sexy Abs Workout Tip:
Contract the abs to bring the knees in and keep the hips and butt level with shoulders.

FITT Boxing sessions
We are planning at least 2 boxing sessions per week as part of the sessions. Please let me know if you would prefer to buy your own gloves (I will get them at cost price). This way, you know you are the only person to have used them and can keep them at home! Or I can keep them..whichever you prefer.
So, please let me know if you would not mind paying for your own set of gloves for future sessions.

FACT: Researchers at the American College of Sports Medicine found that people who exercise for at least 45 minutes for four days a week take up to 50 per cent less time off sick during winter.FACT.

Sexy FITT Back Exercise
Single Leg Dumbell Row
1. Start by holding a dumbell in each hand and balancing on one leg.
2. Bend forward to about a 45 degree angle.
3. Pull the dumbells up towards your waist and then extend your arms back down.
4. Repeat this for the recommended repetitions.

Full body circuit workout tip:
Keep your abs contracted and hips squared to the floor for better balance.

NEW FITT Trainer
I am delighted to welcome Trainer Roisin to the FITT Ladies Bootcamp. Roisin has years of experience in health and fitness and is looking forward to getting us all in tip top shape for summer. Roisin will be leading some evening sessions and most weekend sessions; so introduce yourselves next time you meet her.
Roisin will also be providing a Personal Training service to any of interested in taking up 1:1 sessions outside of the bootcamp classes.

FITT Fact for the week
Goal setting is a motivational technique widely used in sport which involves the assigning and choosing of specific, objective, concrete targets. Well defined goals improve performance, quality of practice, clarify expectations, relieve boredom, and increase pride and self-confidence. Ideally goals should be realistic but challenging, and short term. FACT.

Sexy Summer Arms Exercise
The tricep muscles are located on the back of the upper arm, aka bingo wings.
It can be a difficult area to tone, especially for women. It uses your own body weight as resistance. It can be performed almost anywhere and does not require weights.
Step 1. Use a bench or chair. It will need to be sturdy enough to hold your body weight. Stand in front of the bench, with your back to it
Step 2.Place your hands on the bench with palms down and your knuckles facing forward. Hands should be slightly closer than shoulder width apart. As you are doing this you will bend at the knees and your legs should be at a 90-degree angle.
Step 3. Lower your body by bending at the elbow. Exhale slowly as you bend. Lower for a count of two. Elbows should not point out away from the body as you lower.
Step 4.Straighten your arms out. This will push your body back up. Inhale slowly through your nose as you straighten your arm.
Step 5.Complete 12 repetitions. This is considered one set. Towards the end of the set it should get difficult to perform the exercise. Perform enough repetitions of the tricep dip to work the muscle to fatigue without causing pain.
Step 6.Do two to three sets. Rest your triceps for a minute in between sets. Work your triceps two to three times a week, with at least 24 hours' rest between workouts.

NEW! Phoenix Park Mummy + Buggy day sessions!
Mummy + Buggy Bootcamp is a 60 minute outdoor exercise class incorporating back to basics training methods such as circuits, body weight, running, aerobics and abdominal training + your buggy!!

Classes are catered for all fitness levels and alternatives will be given to any exercise (no getting out of it though!). The emphasis is very much on fun and enjoyment, with our aim to send you off having worked hard but with a smile rather than a grimace on your face!
